Compassionate Support for Your Birth Journey

Hello! I’m Dani.

- A trained postpartum doula and certified breastfeeding specialist (CBS).

Originally from Massachusetts, I moved to Chittenden County in 2017. I spent years in the restaurant industry, followed by various roles in nonprofit and healthcare sectors. Despite my diverse career experiences, I always felt like something was missing. I kept thinking, "This isn’t it. This isn’t what I’m meant to do."

It wasn’t until I became a mother that everything shifted. When I became pregnant, I decided I would stop working all together, as much as a financial burden as it would be, and focus on being a mom. It was in that time of transition that I found my purpose.

Soon after my son was born, I became fascinated with the idea of becoming a doula. When my husband returned to work, I found myself overwhelmed and isolated, with no family nearby and only a few close friends. Despite having nearly 20 years of experience working with children, I was still uncertain about my ability to navigate the unknowns of parenthood. I longed for more knowledge, more support, and the confidence to take on this new chapter.

That’s when I realized I wanted to help other families facing the same challenges. The more I learned about postpartum care, lactation, and parenting support, the more passionate I became. Being a new parent is tough, and there’s so much no one tells you. I’m here to help families feel educated, supported, and empowered, so they can face the challenges of parenthood with confidence and less overwhelm.

I value accessible care for all. Our country has a history of inaccessible, unaffordable, and inequitable healthcare. It results in humans not getting the diagnoses, treatments, and supports that they need.

My mission is to contribute to making healthcare accessible by making my work of being a postpartum doula accessible to individuals regardless of race, sexual orientation, or income.

It is my responsibility to continuously educate myself on important issues in order to provide informed care for my clients. In addition to my regular rates, I provide financial options to those facing economic hardship either through scholarships or a sliding scale rate. I also provide discounts for statistically marginalized communities. Please reach out if you would like a postpartum doula but are afraid that you cannot afford one.

Why the Name?

I wish I could take credit for the name, but it was all my husband. He’s a pun master and proudly came up with this play on words with some inspiration from Adam Sandler’s, The Waterboy.

The Medulla Oblongata is the connection between the brain stem and spinal cord, and it has many regulatory function centers (NIH, 2023). It generates and regulates respiratory functions and blood pressure. It’s responsible for many other reflexes (coughing, sneezing, swallowing, etc.).

Many of the functions that the medulla oblongata regulates, are functions impacted by pregnancy and birth (breathing, blood pressure, etc.).
